Stress is now one of the health’s big problems in nations and societies around the globe. Work, family, society, financial, loneliness, uncertainty, time, and illness pressures, are unavoidable parts of our daily life, and it is close to impossible to avoid these life’s stressful situations.
In previous articles, I have mentioned eight methods, which will help those who apply them, to deal and reduce their stress effectively. However, many people are reducing their stress, building their inner peace, and having happiness by one method, which is the ninth of the methods of reducing stress; that is, having faith, pray and worship.
There are people who may even reject the idea of believing in the existence of God, rather than using this method to reduce stress.
However, I would like to inform those people that years of scientific studies have proven conclusively that the search for God, to know His identity, and His concept exists in every human soul, and that the existence of multi races, languages and cultures did not prevent people’s minds of thinking and searching for this fact.
There is no society, race or nation appeared and lived, then vanished without thinking about the principles, the reasons, and the factors associated with the existence of the universe and humanity, or without giving theories and reasoning thoughts about them, regardless of their degree of certainty.
The truth and the undeniable fact is that man did not create himself, the earth where which he lives, or the sky, which covers and protects him. Neither is he the controller or the manager of the universe’s complicated yet accurate system.
In addition, since it has agreed that nothing might occur by itself, and the manufactured must have a manufacturer; then, there must be a supernatural power that created this universe and every design or system associated with it, whether seen or unseen.
The search for that absolute supernatural power is a human nature, impulse, or instinct, derived and developed by the fear of that supernatural power, since man is in absolute weakness compared to stronger and greater creations, in spite of knowing their true identity.
The existence of human inner zeal or desire to respond to this nature is an indisputable matter that agreed by humankind since the beginning of the world until this day.
Everything in this universe is a sign for us to believe, necessarily, of the existence of a great creator. In fact, each creation around us is a testimony of the existence of God, His greatness, and His perfection.
Humans never denied the existence of God, even though they gave Him different names and attributions. They agreed on the existence of a great creator of the universe, and some people call Him “Inevitable existent”, who created everything.
Even atheists and free thinkers, do not deny the existence of a great power that made this universe with such accurate systems. Nevertheless, they reject the religious names and replace them with unclear and invented names, such as “The Law of Nature” or “Mother Nature”.
If being connected merely to a good friend, who is able to listen to you, will put you at ease, and reduce your stress, then, being connected to God, who created you, is worthier.
Regardless of what your faith or religion is, when you are connected to God, He will ward off your worries and put you at ease. Moreover, having faith and being connected to God gives you peace of mind, purpose, passion, freedom, a sense of honour, a sense of well-being, emotional and psychological stability, empowers you, and reduces your undeniable continuing stress.
Mahatma Gandhi said, “Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness”.
The next method to reduce stress is that you have to eat wisely. Try not to skip meals no matter how busy you are. Researchers have found that even small deficiencies of thiamin and Pantothenic acid (B-complex vitamins) can cause anxiety are critical during times of stress.
The Last method to reduce stress that I will mention is to plan and set goals in your life. Setting goals and work on them can and indeed, is a very useful and powerful method for reducing your stress, putting you in control, and play a big role in your personal success.
If you do not set goals and plan to achieve them, then you leave your life to chances or let others control it for you, which will likely bring disappointments and stress. Choosing a goal and work towards achieving it changes everything.
How to set goals and work towards achieving them will be our next subject.
Managing stress is a lifelong process. If you follow the methods mentioned in this series of articles, you will absolutely note much positive change in your own health, your relations with others,
your energy, and your ability to cope with stress.
